Virtual Gordon Smith Relays, 24th to 30th May 2020

As with many events at this strange time, this year’s Gordon Smith Relays were a virtual affair, with runners choosing their own 2 mile route and running alone against the clock.  Claremont entered 10 teams, 5 male and 5 female.  There were some good performances, particularly a 7th place finish for our “elite” ladies.

Kris Axon was disappointed with his time of 11:07 (me too, Kris!) but that still placed him 12th fastest senior male.

For the women, Catherine Young was a fantastic 3rd fastest senior lady, with Sarah Kerr and Heather Steel being 10th and 11th respectively in the fastest veteran list – I told you we had some elite ladies!

Heather has written about her experiences of this and other virtual races in her blog – click here for a good read!
