Spring Handicap, 26th April 2021

Even if we couldn’t run the handicap as usual, it was nice that we could run in groups of up to 6 and a number of us took advantage of this to start together and have an element of competition over the hills on the “real” Town Moor course.

Others chose their own 5K route and it was one of this group that romped home to an impressive victory – so well done to Rob Newton! Rob tells me that he has been on the Covid diet and has lost a stone. He has certainly got his fitness levels up during lockdown and put in another impressive run following strong performances in our recent challenges.

There would have been an exciting race for 2nd place, if they could have run together, with Julija Simpson holding off Chris Jones by 3 seconds.

There was no surprise that Kris Axon was the fastest on the night, while second fastest, with an excellent 5K run, was new member and handicap debutant Ben Hardy. Sarah Kerr completed the trio of sub-20 minute runs to finish as fastest lady. Maria Duenas was second quickest female.

Many thanks to Anna for providing a fun, illuminating and very original quiz that kept everybody entertained in the post-handicap Zoom social.
