Gosforth Summer Relays, 8th August 2021
The return of real relay running made for a very enjoyable morning in Newcastle Great Park as 6 Claremont teams competed in the Gosforth Summer Relays. It was a funny morning weather-wise, with spells of glorious sunshine interrupted by a couple of short, blustery showers, but conditions were good underfoot even on the short, grassy section.
The course was slightly shorter than usual as it made use of a new path that cuts the corner near the start and finish, where previously we had to run around the children’s play area.
Although we didn’t win any of the team prizes, there were some good times recorded and wins in 3 of the individual categories. Catherine Young was fastest female veteran, with Hazel Juggins and Tom Tinsley winning their respective over-60s titles.

I think there are some great photos of the handovers and a couple of smashing photos of a smiling Catherine.
