The Wall, 18th June 2022
The Wall is what you call a real challenge – essentially run the length of Hadrian’s Wall from Carlisle to Newcastle. That is a distance of over 70 miles across some beautiful, but undulating(!) countryside.
Two Claremont Road Runners, Simon Lowe and Jack Shawcross, were mad enough to take on this ultra running challenge. Both managed to finish in amazing times – there were 486 finishers out of 586 starters, and both were in the top 50.
Position | Runner | Time |
17 | Simon Lowe | 12:27:49 |
49 | Jack Shawcross | 13:33:05 |
Simon described it thus:
“Went pretty well except suffering with bad cramp for the last 20 miles. Also ended up in the medical tent after having a fight (ran into a beam) on Hagg Bank Bridge. Going to have a lovely trophy scar.”
Well done – a great achievement!
