parkrun, 25th June 2022

It was a bright and breezy morning in the North East, and pretty good conditions for our weekly parkrun. The Claremont ladies excelled once again with first place finishes for Nikoletta Szlovak at Leazes and Sarah Kerr at Jesmond Dene, while Clare McKitterick was 2nd female at Blackhill. Nikki’s time was a PB too. Indeed, it was a good day for PBs, as there – for Martin Jobling at Riverside, Fred Besse at Leazes and Nicki O’Brien at Jesmond Dene.

Further afield, Nina Jentl ran in Somerset, and Alice Vialard had a very early start (7am!) for a parkrun down under. Alice was rewarded for her effort with a course PB.

There is a new parkrun magazine out and if any of you get your hands on it, turn to page 12. There you will see, in a piece about Hackney Marshes, a short profile and photo of wor Sumanth.

For newer members who may not know him, Sumanth was a Claremonter and founder of Leazes parkrun before moving down to London. He has since moved again and now does his parkrunning in the sunnier climes of Byxbee parkrun, Palo Alto, California.
