Unfortunately there was no Leazes parkrun this Saturday as they still don’t have access to their equipment, so it was the Town Moor that had the largest contingent of Claremonters for a change. As we are entering the summer holiday season, there was a bit of tourism too. Chris Jones ran in Jersey, and Ben Hardy ran on what looks like a lovely course at Woolacombe in North Devon. Their parkrun web page describes it as:: “One continuous lap on a mixture of stone tracks, sand dunes and beach. This unique parkrun takes in stunning views of Woolacombe bay and beyond.” Sounds like a great way to start your Saturday!
Amazingly, this was the second consecutive week that we had a representative at Hasenheide parkrun in Berlin. Brian Hegarty ran there last week, and Nikki Szlovak followed him this week. Not only did Nikki run there, but she finished as 1st lady!
Izzy Neatrour was the only PB this week – at Jesmond Dene, where it was great to see 2 of last weekend’s Couch to 5K graduates, Paul Jameson and Yue Zhao (Joyce), turn out for their 2nd parkrun. Jesmond Dene is a tough course and Joyce not only ran it but smashed her time from Leazes the week before – so much so that I am wondering if she took the Nikki Szlovak shortcut! I will definitely be adjusting her handicap for next Monday!
