The final parkrun of the year saw some landmarks and notable successes for Claremont Road Runners.
Catherine Young marked her 100th parkrun at the Town Moor, where she was so closely accompanied by her Claremont friends that 4 of them were given exactly the same time. The Town Moor also saw a first place finish for Jason Hall, a former Claremont Road Runner who ran with us before moving down to Leeds a few years ago. This was a course PB for Jason on a return visit to the North East.
Over at Leazes Park, Niki Szlovak celebrated her 50th parkrun by finishing as 1st female (again!). Laurie Johnson ended the year with a course PB of 20:01 – surely 2023 will see him break the 20 minute barrier.
Rising Sun saw another Claremont victory, with Kris Axon romping home in 1st place.
Meanwhile, Elizabeth O’Mahony, Rachel Hurdman and Maria Dueñas all ran in events north of the border. We had representatives at two Perths – Rachel ran a PB at Perth in Scotland, while the duo down under were running at Cottesloe in Perth, Australia.
A nice way to see out the year and we don’t have to wait long for our next parkrun fix – as long as we can get up early enough on New Year’s Day!
