There remains a slight chill in the air, but Saturday mornings seem to be tentatively getting warmer. Could spring be around the corner…?
Numbers may not have been as high as they might, with the latest Harrier League fixture kicking off only a few hours after, but there were still plenty of sky-blues turning out at parkrun on a clear and sunny day.
Nikki Szlovák was 2nd lady at Riverside, with Sophie Douglas and Julie Cross (course PB) taking 3rd at Jesmond Dene and Leazes respectively. Roberto Marzo hit a big milestone on the Town Moor, running his 250th event.
While Town Moor and Leazes predictably saw the highest Claremont attendance, there were quite a few spread across the north east, as well as a few tourists further afield. Luke Woodend was debuting in London at Crystal Palace, with Alan Dunning not quite so far away in York.
Eclipsing everyone else’s efforts by approximately 9900km/6200 miles (as the crow flies, according to Google) was Howard Maclennan, making a rare parkrun appearance (apparently only his 6th in nearly 7 years) at uMhlanga in South Africa. If you check out the photos, it was clearly warm enough for Howard to go shirtless, as he is wont to do! Might be a few more months before he’s trying that in Newcastle…
