Run Northumberland Alnwick Castle Trail 10K, 21st May 2023
Lynne Cornell travelled in the opposite direction to most of us this Sunday, to do a trail run at Alnwick. Here is her report:
“Whilst a large number of Claremont were on their way to the coast for some sea air I was on my way to Alnwick for a trot through Hulne Park on a course that is described as multi-terrain and undulating! It is one loop around the scenic park on paths and farm tracks. The views are beautiful. When I arrived In Alnwick it was slightly cloudy but that lifted at 9.50 ready for the 10 start!!!? The course itself is quite deceptive. The first 5k is relatively flat with a few sheep crossing the course (!) ?? then there is a steady climb for the next 2k to the highest part of the route where the reward is stunning views across the park. Then 2k of running back down the hill on a forest track before the final push to the end where a much needed bottle of water was waiting. It was a warm one but very enjoyable!!”
Lynne finished in 37th place in a time of 50:57, and was 1st in her age category. Well done!
