UPCOMING: Weetslade Relays – 28th June 2023
The Weetslade Relay is the event that Claremont organised every year from 2010 to 2019, and which grew from eight teams when it was first run, to over 100. We had to change it to a virtual event in 2020 and 2021, but were delighted to be back to holding a ‘real’ race last year.
The race starts and ends at Wideopen Juniors Football Club (Lockey Park), and much of the course goes through the Weetslade Country Park.
It would be great if as many club members as possible could support the event. The ways in which you can do this are:
- Most importantly, come along on the night – Wednesday 28th June – to marshal, help out in other ways, or run in one of the Claremont teams. There will be options to sign up on Spond nearer the time.
- Car parking is only available on street so please cycle or come by public transport if you can, to ensure there is no disruption to local residents. If you are driving, please offer lifts to others.
- Come along to our club training night at Weetslade on Monday 12th June. We need people to act as both runners and marshals in a rehearsal, to ensure that all the plans we have made will work out in practice. Sign-up for this session will be open on Spond from Saturday 10th June.
- Get together some items for our novelty prize bags and be ready to bring them along on either the 12th or the 28th.
- If you know people from other running clubs, encourage them to enter teams.
- Consider joining the Race Sub-Committee who organise the event – new members are always extremely welcome!
