There was still no Town Moor parkrun due to The Hoppings, but there is a new kid in toon! After what seems a long wait, and no doubt a lot of planning, Denton Dene parkrun launched in the west end of the city. The organisers had managed to kept the date fairly quiet, but Clare McKitterick made her way there as the only sky blue.
Otherwise, we mostly spread ourselves out around the North East with representation at 11 other venues from Saltburn-by-the-Sea to Hexham. Lucy Keating was a bit more adventurous, travelling to Thurso, the northernmost outpost for parkrun in mainland Britain. Lucy has kindly sent us a report of her adventures which features as a separate post.
It was Nikoletta Szlovak who travelled south to Saltburn where, despite still working her way back to fitness, she finished in 3rd place overall and was the first female home. Sarah Kerr also finished as 1st female, this time at Jesmond Dene. Sarah tells me that she got a bit lost on the course and had to stop to ask the way (well, you had only run it 7 times before, Sarah!) – not that this slowed her down much as she still recorded a course PB.
Also getting a PB at Jesmond Dene was new member Aaron Mansell, and Michael Teasdale conquered the hills of Chopwell Wood to set a PB there.
