LGBT5k Festival Of Running, 21st July 2023
Friday evening saw the 12th edition of Newcastle Frontrunners’ LGBT5k on the Town Moor.
More than any other club in the North East, the Frontrunners promote and pride themselves on being inclusive, especially to those in or allied to the LGBTQ community.
This annual event celebrates LGBT+ culture, alongside the Pride festival taking place this weekend. Therefore, despite the relentless rain, nearly 500 runners could be seen sloshing their way around the Moor, adorned in all manner of creative and colourful outfits. The enjoyment on the faces of those present, showed it would take more than a minor deluge to dampen their spirits.
Four Claremont runners participated, with Mungai Wairia finishing first in his age category, as he is often wont to do.
Position | Runner | Time |
50 | Mungai Wairia (1st M65) | 21:29 |
