At its heart, parkrun is all about encouraging people to get out and exercise on a Saturday morning, whether you push yourself chasing your best times, or have a leisurely jog chatting with friends. There is no wrong approach. There was certainly a trend towards the former this week though, the air was thick with PB’s!
All the way over in Keswick, Aaron Mansell added more evidence that this is a very fast course by once again lowering his parkrun PB considerably. Cate Walker returned to her new local at Saltwell Park for a course PB, matched by both Mark Anderson at Jesmond Dene and Sophie Douglas at Whitley Bay.
The magic was clearly strongest at Leazes, with Holly Porter and Julie Cross both beating their best times at that event. Not only that, Julie was a mere 9 seconds shy of her nearly 10 year old parkrun PB, and finished as 3rd lady. Biggest plaudits however had to go to Izzy Neatrour, who smashed a full 45 seconds off her overall parkrun time, throwing in 2nd lady for good measure!
On the tourism front, Nina Jentl could be found up in the Scottish Highlands at Aviemore. Even further north, Charlotte Johnston reported in from Elgin, though is missing from the results, so she may have gone ‘off-grid’ without barcode. Rose Hawkswood was down in Birmingham, helping her mum complete the ‘Pirates’ challenge (7 C’s and an R) at the appropriately named Cannon Hill, while Ann Smith was galloping round the racecourse in York.
Back in the UK, Kimberley Metson equalled the 1st lady finish from her last parkrun, at Belvoir Castle in Leicestershire.
