On a windy morning, there was the usual spread of Claremont Road Runners around the North East parkruns, and some noticeable achievements. Mark Anderson finished in first place at our spiritual home in Leazes Park, and we should give a special mention to Jack Shawcross. As Jack is listed under his first-claim club of Heaton Harriers, he is not normally in our results, but coming 1st in your 200th parkrun and recording a course PB cannot go unreported! Well done to both Mark and Jack.
South Shields was the venue for the annual Memory Walk for Alzheimers, and that drew two of us to the start line – Tom Tinsley, who was marshalling at the walk, and Clare McKitterick who was walking it with her family. It was good to be joined by Simon Lowe – Simon seems to have rediscovered parkrun after a number of years absence!
Two sky blues were in Cumbria – Luke Woodend in Ambleside and Holly Porter all the way down at the end of the cul-de-sac in Barrow-in-Furness. Even further afield, Chris Jones limbered up for the Isle of Wight Marathon with a trot around the parkrun course at Fareham in Hampshire.
Now running with the Claremont colony “down under”, Maria Dueñas finished as 2nd lady at her new home run of Cottesloe in Perth, Australia.
