With the weather showing an improvement over recent weeks, Claremonters were out in force for their Saturday morning 5K, particularly at our “home” of Leazes Park where 15 of us ran or walked. There were 2 PBs too one to Luke O’Neill and the other to Keya Rahman on what may be one of her last runs with us before she moves to take up a new position in Leeds. Good luck, Keya, we wish you many more PBs in your new parkrun home!
Laurie Johnson took advantage of the cheap train tickets currently on offer to take a trip to North Yorkshire and run at Northallerton. He continued his recent good form to finish 3rd in a time of 19:41 – all the more impressive as over half the course is run on grass (and I am guessing that it might have been a bit muddy).
Another Sky Blue in great form is Izzy Neatrour. Izzy seems to go from strength to strength, and she finished as 1st lady at Jesmond Dene, clocking up a course PB in the process. Chris Jones also bagged a course PB in the woods at Ashington.
Rachel Hurdman headed north of the border to run at Kirkcaldy, but this week’s tourism award goes to Rose Hawkswood who crossed the North Sea to Holland, and Amsterdam Bos parkrun.
