As many core teams find themselves desperately repeating late on a Friday evening, parkrun doesn’t happen without volunteers. Hi-viz heroes are required to ensure the smooth, safe running of an event. David Lydall, a frequent run director at Leazes, is one such hero. Today, having racked up many volunteer credits along the way, he also reached the impressive milestone of 300 parkruns, throwing in his fastest time in nearly 2 years for good measure. Congratulations Dave! Dave was joined by 6 other Claremonters running at Leazes this morning, along with the usual coterie of volunteers.
Elsewhere, there was a healthy spread of tourism. Aoífe Monaghan was down in Stafford at the popular, and notoriously fast Isabel Trail. Unfortunately they were using their ‘B’ course today, consisting of four gravelly laps of rugby pitches, with plenty of right-angled turns. Despite this, Aoífe still recorded her second-fastest parkrun time, also finishing as 2nd lady.
North of the border, Izzy Neatrour could be found running by the Firth of Forth at the picturesque Edinburgh parkrun. Further south, Holly Porter visited Rothwell on the outskirts of Leeds, with Niamh Garratt returning to Markeaton near Derby.
Back in the north east, Catherine Young continued her postpartum comeback, running almost 2 minutes faster than her previous Christmas Day outing at Herrington Country Park. Over on the coast, Sarah Kerr ran another very fast time at Blyth Links to finish as 2nd lady
