parkrun, 6th April 2024

Plenty of Claremonters were out parkrunning on a blustery morning this Saturday.

Furthest afield was Holly Porter, finishing as 3rd lady in the grounds of Tamworth Castle. A little further north, in similarly grand surroundings, Alexia O’Rourke was accompanying her aunt on her maiden parkrun at Doddington Hall in Lincolnshire. Meanwhile, Luke O’Neill was staking his claim for ‘most scenic tourism’ at Fell Foot on the banks of Lake Windemere.

Back in the North East, we were spread across no fewer than 9 parkruns. Chris Jones finished 3rd in the shadow of the Gruffalo, at the picturesque Hamsterley Forest, while Chloe Glover stuck out from the large Claremont crowd at Leazes with a new course PB. Niamh Garratt was celebrating a friends 50th parkrun at Town Moor, and hopefully not too worrying a development for Aoífe Monaghan, who “felt something pop” in her calf, running at Stewart in Middlesbrough.
