Barry Budon Half-Marathon, 28th April 2024

“I headed up to Dundee for an aptly timed and hopefully a scenic half, to test my progress since joining CRR back in January.

It ended up an interesting run on a firing range and not quite as scenic as hoped (sand dunes and trees blocking any views) but on what would be a fast flat course, if not for a strong headwind.

So I got my head down, picking up the pace, to get the job done.

It’s been 10 years since I last got a sub 2hr half-marathon, and recently I’ve see a huge improvement in pace, after Wednesday intervals and also regular S&C.

I finished in 1hr 57, so really pleased with that, given a blip earlier in the week. I’m really looking forwards to seeing what the rest of the year brings, and hoping for some consistency in pace too, especially at the club! “
