Wild Goat Festival, 31st May to 2nd June

Nina Jensen and Marie Slack took part in the Wild Goat Festival in the South Lakes, which was a series of events over the weekend from 31st May to 2nd June. Here is Nina’s report:

“I was lucky enough to take up Marie’s offer of a free weekend place at the inaugural Wild Goat Festival, part of Steve Cram’s growing Events of the North events calendar. The festival was a weekend of camping, running, cycling, wellbeing and inspirational talks with music and plenty to do for little folks too. Although I couldn’t make full use of the ticket due to the Morpeth 10k I pitched up my van on Friday in the grounds of Holker Hall right opposite Marie in her tent and we jumped straight in with a 5k run (where we were joined by and beat Paula Radcliffe, we did shout to tell them they’d gone the wrong way honestly!) followed by yoga (some choice words on some of the stretches from the cross fitter next to Marie) then settled in to listen some inspiring people with a beer and some food. Sat was more of the same starting with a mindfulness session then a 10k out to the cost. More talks then I opted to try a mile hill sprint to the top of How Barrow whilst Marie opted to chill with another talk. Unfortunately due to some changes in timetables we both missed the awesome Imo Boddy doing her first interview since her amazing 3 Peaks record (hopefully someone recorded it and will post on their You Tube channel soon). I left and pack up with Marie planning to do a 3k social run – which judging from a video she sent later looked like in culminated in a full on rave. She did still manage to get up and out this morning for a 20k run too. Hopefully the festival will run next year and if so I’d say get your tickets early, you’ll be in for a blast!”

Sounds great – and we expect great things from Nina and Marie now that we know they can beat Paula!
