It was another blustery morning, with the wind chill making it feel decidedly on the cool side for June (or was that just at the coast?), but at least the sun was out for parkrun.
It was a good morning for Sky Blues at our “home” of Leazes Park, where pending member Harry Mawdsley came 3rd on his first outing there, and there were PBs for Dave Roberts and Cate Walker. After missing out by 1 second last week, Dave ran 10 seconds faster this week to record his 5th PB in his last 8 runs at Leazes Park. Cate’s running is also on an upwards trajectory and this was her 4th PB on 4 different courses in her last 5 parkrun outings.
Also finishing 3rd was Eric Adams at Ashington Community Woodland, while Roberto Marzo went two places better with a first place at Prudhoe Riverside, claiming a course PB in the process.
It is good to see Peter Henderson continuing to do parkruns even though he has to walk rather than run due to injury at the moment. He will have added a few minutes to his time by stopping to chat with Gill and I at our respective marshalling posts. At least Peter was given a time – Francesco Carrer doesn’t appear in the results but I can confirm that he did complete the course as I was marshalling close to the end!
Chris Jones was at Hartlepool and JIm Crinnion ventured further south to Rothwell, just outside Leeds, but the winner in the Tourist of the Week category was Lucy Ward who ran at Exmouth in Devon. Lucy may or may not have run on the beach for some of the run – apparently it depends on the tide!
