Couch to 5K Free Training Programme
Get Fit and Have Fun
Whether you want to lose a few pounds, improve your mental wellbeing or just get fit while having fun and making new friends, running can be a great way of achieving your aims.
This Claremont Road Runners training course is based on the NHS Couch to 5K programme which has been proven to work for thousands of new runners. The aim of the course is to take you from a complete beginner to being able to run a 5K parkrun without stopping. The course will last 9 to 10 weeks. It will provide:
- Added motivation through running with others
- Advice, guidance and support from experienced coaches and run leaders
- Three sessions per week – 2 as a group each Monday and Wednesday, and 1 as “homework”
Although we will be following the NHS programme, we will have the flexibility to change the sessions to suit the progress of the group.
Venue: Newcastle University Sports Centre
The next course is scheduled to start on Monday 9th May at 6pm. The aim will be to finish on Saturday 9th July at Leazes parkrun, though we will be flexible depending on the progress of the group. If you think this may be for you, then please register your interest by leaving your email address and a comment using the form below and we will get back to you with further details.
Our last group of C25K graduates enjoyed the course. All have joined the club and our continuing to progress with their running. They are also keen to share their experiences and want to help nurture the next group of runners!
