Summer Handicap 27th July 2015
This year’s “summer” handicap took place on a wet, miserable evening more suited to autumn, but the course was in decent condition with the paths over the hills not too muddy. 35 souls braved the wet weather to make it a competitive run.
First home was a guest, Helen Evans, who had arrived that evening to give the club a try for the very first time! First Claremonter home and therefore winner of the trophy was Andrew Burrell, followed home by Chris Jones and Leanne Salem.
Mary Martin was a popular winner of the Summer Cup with defending champion Colin White in 2nd place. Mary will get the chance to defend her title in October when the 3 other contenders will be David Reay, Richard Slack and Sarah Kerr.
Fastest on the night, by some distance, was Rutger Zietsma in 18:03. Roberto Marzo was next with 19:47 and Chris Jones’ 20:22 made him third fastest. Fastest lady was another guest, Lisa Harpin in 21:36 with Charlotte Spencer (21:58) and Sarah Kerr (22:00) filling 2nd and 3rd slots.
