Good Friday Relays, 30th March 2018
The weather for the Good Friday relays was anything but spring-like, but a sizeable Claremont contingent, which included 4 debutants for the ladies, braved the elements. One of the debutants, Tara McCully, summed up the experience on behalf of the others:
“Wearing our club vests for the first time we were filled with excitement and fear of what the course had in store for us. A friendly brief from Tom and the encouragement of others explaining the handover process was encouraging and filled us with confidence.
The relays saw interesting weather but that didn’t hold the smiles back. One of us (Emma) ran away at the start to achieve one of her fastest miles to date, another paced the 2 miles perfectly and the other had the joy of hailstones and the experience of the ‘handover!’. The cheers from our own club and others were amazing and it was great to see all the other runners doing well. We got to meet some new faces from the club and attempted to remember some new names. The cakes and fudge (thankyou Lucy!) were amazing!
The relays were a great experience and highlighted the fact that this a very friendly and supportive club!”
