Sadly Leazes parkrun was cancelled this week due to a lack of volunteers. It was brave of the Leazes team to take this decision and a real shame that it had to happen. Events like parkrun can only take place when people give up their time (and their own run) to marshal, scan barcodes or act as timekeeper. There are lots of runners who regularly participate and if everybody volunteered just a few times a year, there wouldn’t be a problem. So, please parkrunners, think about marshaling every once in a while – you never know, you might enjoy it!
Rant over … the lack of a Leazes parkrun meant more Claremonters than usual at the Town Moor and others sampling other venues.
Congratulations to Kris Axon who was first at Jesmond Dene and recorded a PB to boot. In the same run, Maddie Day also got a PB and was 2nd lady. I can imagine that was a very happy household that morning. There were also PBs for Fred Besse at Town Moor and Nicki O’Brien at Whitley Bay.
