This weekend was a busy one for Claremonters, with races across the North East and further afield across the border in both Scotland and Wales.
Saturday and Sunday saw this year’s instalment of the Kielder Marathon Weekend and we had seven of our Claremont ladies competing in all three running events of “Britain’s Most Beautiful”: the 10k, the half-marathon and the full marathon. Lovely to see Mary, Lois and Elizabeth all crossing the finish line together in the 10k. Well done to Mary for finishing 1st in her age category, proud recipient of a hoodie for her efforts!
On Sunday over in Sunderland we had Heather Steele and Marie Slack running up to the Penshaw Monument and alongside the River Wear as part of the Penshaw 10k.
We had five half-marathoners this weekend, Nicki O’Brien, Hazel Juggins and Ann Smith at Kielder, Alan Dunning further down taking part in the Redcar Running Festival and Tara Hipwood going back to her Welsh roots to run the Cardiff Half!
Sunday saw the postponed 2022 London Marathon take place, but our marathoners were running in arguably much more picturesque routes over in Kielder (Nina Jensen) and across the border at the Loch Ness Marathon (Charlotte Johnston).
Well done everyone on representing us so well across the region and the country!
