parkrun, 26th November 2022

Another Harrier League fixture, another Leazes volunteer roster with a heavy Claremont flavour. There were, however, still plenty of sky-blues to be found running the damp, leave-strewn course.

Mungai Wairia clocked an impressive time as he continues to work his way back from a long injury lay-off, as did Izzy Neatrour, recording a fantastic course PB despite recent calf issues. Elizabeth O’Mahony also weighed in with a course PB, while Kimberley Metson was the model of consistency, matching the 23:04 from her previous Leazes run-out exactly.

The numbers at Leazes were swollen to an unusually high 203, no doubt due in part to the MoRun event, that saw the Town Moor have to suspend their parkrun this week. Perhaps it was this cancellation that inspired Moor regular Clare McKitterick; heading on down to South Park in Darlington for some tourism.

The clubs’ presence was otherwise quite sparse across the north east, with only a further 6 runners spread around another 3 local parkruns.
