This weekend saw two Claremont Road Runners join the 100 club. New member Peter Henderson ran his 100th parkrun at Whitley Bay, where he and the other runners were treated to a wonderful view of a rainbow right over St Mary’s Island and the lighthouse. Just a few miles down the road, Alex Anslow recorded her century at Rising Sun.
A few regulars chose to rest and/or volunteer before the afternoon’s cross-country, and perhaps that is why Sam Dunn was are only representative at our spiritual parkrun home in Leazes Park. Whilst there were no PBs this week, Heather Steel was first female at Gateshead.
There was a fair bit of tourist activity this weekend. Julie Cross ran her first parkrun outside of the UK at Hasenheide in Berlin. Lucy Keating was down in that there London, from where she has sent an excellent report of her parkrun experience along the Thames Path at Woolwich. Nikoletta travelled to Sheffield to get her “E” at Endcliffe Park. Endcliffe was Alex Harding’s home parkrun and he was on his travels again this week, trodding what is now a path well worn by Claremonters to Fountains Abbey. However, surely the award to poshest parkrun ever must go to Rose Hawkswood who was in Warwickshire. Can anyone beat Dallas Burston Polo Club in the upmarket parkrun stakes?
