parkrun, 2nd December 2023
Winter arrived with a vengeance this weekend, with snow and ice covering much of the country; and it had a devastating effect on parkrun. Virtually all events in the North East were cancelled, but this didn’t prevent an intrepid trio of Claremonters heading down to the County Durham coast and the last run standing – Cotsford Fields. They weren’t the only ones with 272 runners descending on an event that had only 17 the week before, and had averaged only 40.
Meanwhile, on the other side of the world, Maria Duenas, the only other Claremonter in action, was running in the heat of Western Australia at her new “home” of Cottesloe. Bet you wish you were here, Maria!
