It was a dry, bright winter’s morning for our Saturday 5K fix today. Once again, we spread ourselves around the North East, the largest turnout being on the Town Moor where 7 Claremont Road Runners were part of a huge field of 666 runners and walkers. Otherwise we were well spread around the numerous wonderful parkruns that we are blessed with in the region.
Ann and Eddie Smith ventured north to run around the muddy pastures at Alnwick, while Lena Lou and Laurie Johnson headed down the east coast to Cotsford Field and Cinder Track in Whitby respectively. This is how Laurie describes his experience:
“Run almost exclusively on, yes, a cinder track, 2km straight up an increasingly steep hill, followed by 2.5km back down, with a little 500m incline up to the finish to keep you on your toes. A lovely route up through woods, crossing Larpool Viaduct both ways, offering stunning North Yorkshire views across the River Esk, with vociferously encouraging volunteers in attendance.”
Sophie Richardson, who hardly seems to do the same parkrun twice, was even further south taking on the hills of Brockwell Park in that there London.
There were a trio of course PBs this week, so well done to Aoife Monaghan, Chloe Glover and Simon Lowe.
