Friday’s decision to cancel the cross-country at Thornley Hall Farm meant that Saturday morning plans were changed and, for many, that meant doing a parkrun.
Though the North East did not have the blue skies seen in other parts of the country, it had at least stopped raining. Though that didn’t mean there were no wet feet, with big puddles and surface water on a number of the courses.
Claremonters once again spread themselves around the North East with the largest contingent being at Leazes Park, where Laurie Johnson continued his fine run of form to record a course PB and another sub-19 minutes 5K and Julie Cross finished as 2nd female. Mark Anderson finished 3rd at a soggy Rising Sun, while a quartet of Sky Blues visited Denton Dene with Roberto Marzo grabbing a PB there.
Dave Roberts was our only tourist making his second visit to Portrush parkrun in Northern Ireland. This looks like a beautiful venue and the 5K is run entirely on the beach along what, according to the course description, is a “beautifully scenic coast line to the White Rocks”.
