It was a lovely, sunny morning in the North East and it finally felt like springtime for parkrunners – and there were plenty of sky blues out running under blue skies.
The sunshine also brought out the best in a few of us, with Claremonters on the parkrun podiums.
Mark Anderson fitted Prudhoe Riverside parkrun into his weekend long run, and seemed to benefit from a 12 mile warm-up by crossing the line first! Heather Steel, 1st last week, was 2nd female at Gateshead.
It was a good day too for Claremont Road Runners at Herrington Country Park, where Jack Shawcross was first, Aoife Mongahan ran a PB and Catherine Young ran her fastest time since returning from maternity leave! (Note: Jack does parkruns under his first claim club of Heaton Harriers, but he is also a Claremonter).
Paul Jameson followed up his C25K graduation with a PB at Leazes Park and there were also PBs for Eric Adams at Whitley Bay and Laurie Johnson on the Town Moor – though, to be honest, it is a surprise if Laurie doesn’t run a PB these days!
There was a fair bit of tourism too. Luke Woodend was in his native Cumbria, Lucy Keating and Jim Crinnion in Yorkshire and Chris Jones ran in that there London. Meanwhile, to run or not to run was the question for Rose Hawkswood in the bard’s home of Stratford-upon-Avon. She not only ran, but ran a course PB!
