Hardmoors White Horse Marathon, 9th June 2024

For lots of us the 9th June means the Blaydon Race, Simon Lowe likes tougher challenges! So Sunday morning, saw him in North Yorkshire for the White Horse Marathon, part of the Hardmoors series. As with many trail races, the distance is a starter for 10, with Simon’s GPS measuring 29.2 miles. Throw in a mere 3,379 feet of climbing, and you can see that this is not one for the faint-hearted. However, Simon not only rose to the challenge, he won the race in a time of 3:56, finishing over two minutes ahead of 2nd place. This is what he had to say:

“First place. Not quite sure how that happened. I lead from the beginning going at a steady pace, with the anticipation that I would be caught at some point. Especially after slowing down on the final ascent from Rievaulx Abbey to Sutton Bank.”

Very well done, Simon!
