Summer appears to have finally arrived (appreciate it while you can), with sunny skies and warm conditions abounding for parkrun this weekend.
Our parkrunners mostly stayed in the north east, with a couple of notable exceptions. Aoífe Monaghan’s foray a couple of hours west to the coast, at Maryport Prom in Cumbria, saw her finish as 2nd lady, while Luke Woodend was making one of his regular visits to Keswick at Whinlatter Forest. Sophie Ellam could be found down in Rendlesham Forest in Suffolk.
Catherine Young was back at her new favourite haunt, Fulwell Quarry. Only 6 weeks into its existence, Catherine celebrated her 4th run there by finishing as 1st lady with a course PB. Over at Chopwell Woods, Sarah Kerr was also 1st lady, with Mark Anderson just finishing 2nd in a head-to-head with Jonathan Gilroy.
Izzy Neatrour was at Saltwell Park with her mum, the latter incredibly completing her 250th parkrun, but Izzy also impressed with a 2nd lady finish. While Izzy’s mum was debuting in Gateshead, Heather Steel, just 5 shy of 200 parkruns, has run almost half of her total at her local, clocking up her 100th appearance. There were further course PB’s from Roberto Marzo at Denton Dene and Harry Mawdsley and Aaron Mansell at Leazes.
