With the absence of a parkrun at Leazes Park this week, it was an ideal opportunity to reinstate the monthly Parkrun Tourism with a trip to the, still fairly new, parkrun at Fulwell Quarry. Eight of us made the short journey south to join regular Catherine Young (plus Marie and Richard Slack) – Zoe Jukes would have made it 10 sky blues but she went to the other Sunderland parkrun at Silksworth by mistake!
Dave Roberts was on fairly familiar ground, running along the beach at Portrush in Northern Ireland. However winner of “Tourist of the Week” is Elizabeth O’Mahony who rocked up at Gdansk in Poland!
There may have been no Leazes, but the Town Moor run returned after an a 3 week lay-off for The Hoppings – and there was Claremont success too. Jim Crinnion followed up his Leazes PB with one at the Town Moor, Alex Harding also got a PB and Harry Mawdsley came 3rd.
There were other podium spots for Mark Anderson, a winner at Denton Dene with a PB, and Nikoletta Szlovak who finished as 2nd female at Gateshead. Lucy Ward at Tyne Green and Chris Jones at Carlisle Park were the other runners celebrating course PBs.
