parkrun, 13th July 2024

With a number of different races on this weekend, there were fewer Claremonters than normal out for their Saturday morning 5K fix – but we still managed to spread ourselves far and wide.

It was a close run thing for “Tourist of the week” with Laurie Johnson in Finland and Elizabeth O’Mahony collecting a “Z” in Poland. I don’t think a penalty shootout would be practical, so I think that we will call it a draw!

Back on British soil, we had Izzy Neatrour going to Kelso and grabbing 1st female; Aoife Monaghan finishing as 2nd lady south of the Tees near Saltburn-by-the-Sea (where Jack Shawcross was 1st); Clare Taylor further south still at Whitby and Cate Walker running at Ipswich (“I” being another rare letter for the alphabet chasers).

Kudos to Russell Brown and Zoë Jukes as the only sky blues to get a PB this week – at Jesmond Dene and Bramley respectively.
