Jarrow 10k, 6th October 2024
Two Claremont Road Runners took part in the Jarrow 10k ‘B’ race today (the ‘A’ race being reserved for the whippets guaranteed to run well under 40 minutes). Lena Lou gives this account:
“Jarrow & Hebburn 10km boasts a fantastically flat and quick course, consisting of 2 laps out and back. The course gave plenty of opportunities to cheer on fellow runners and a great event to spectate at too.
I went into the course wary, following a rather hilly parkrun the day prior. However, 2 miles in felt myself naturally pushing, so decided to go with the flow.
I managed to continue to pick up the pace all the way until the last km, which wound its way back through the club grounds (perhaps the most challenging part of the course). I was able to get a 5 min PB for this year, so I was very happy.
I look forward to having another go at the event and recommend it for anyone looking for a race PB. Fantastic weather and fabulous event organised by RunThrough.”
Luke Woodend: “It was a good event. Got my years best 10k time, which came as a surprise, given I’ve been full of cold for a few days and engaged in a bit too much carb-loading (of the hop based variety) this weekend. Perhaps testimony to how good a course it is for those seeking a time.”
