A beautiful autumnal morning and a great turnout from Claremont, both running and volunteering, helped provide a welcome return to parkrun (and, indeed, to running) for Mariana Mouzinho. As well as marking her return to running following knee surgery, and the end of a Couch to 5K training programme, this was also Mariana’s 50th parkrun, nearly 12 months after her 49th! There was more to celebrate at Leazes, with a PB for Eddie Smith and Izzy Neatrour finishing as 1st female.
There was also a decent turnout at the Town Moor, with 8 runners and more cause for Claremont celebration. Mark Anderson set a PB with a fabulous 17:32, Yana Bevan knocked a phenomenal 90 seconds plus off her previous best time and Sophie Ellam ran a 50 second PB.
Otherwise, we were spread far and wide across the British Isles. Nina Jentl and Lynne Cornell were north of the border in Aberdeen and Edinburgh respectively; Roberto Marzo was on the west coast in Whitehaven and Brian Hegarty was across the Irish Sea in Derry., where he claimed a course PB Also over on the island of Ireland were Aoife Monaghan and Jack Shawcross, both of whom were limbering up for the Dublin marathon with a saunter around Brickfields parkrun.
