Summer returned and we were blessed with glorious sunshine around the North East, and it was a busy morning at parkruns throughout the region. There were a massive 797 finishers on the Town Moor, the 3rd highest turnout ever. Though it wasn’t a popular choice for Claremonters with only 3 out of 36 parkrunners choosing to run there,
Over at Leazes Park, Harry Mawdsley celebrated his 50th parkrun in some style, with a first place finish and a course PB to boot. Harry was well supported by 10 other sky blue runners and 3 more volunteers, and he wasn’t the only one to have success – there was a PB for Anton Mirafsari and a 1st female finish for Sarah Kerr.
It was a case of “Another week, another PB” for Lena Lou, this time at Prudhoe Riverside. Also on the PB trail were Becky Webster at Whitley Bay, and Ann Smith at Keswick.
Gill Milne and I were at Herrington Country Park, which looked fabulous in the morning sunshine. We had an enjoyable run that was slightly marred by a case of finish token rage (ask if you must know more!).
As usual, there was a sprinkling of tourism further afield than Herrington. Lily Crouzier was in North Yorkshire where she enjoyed the delights of the scenic, but hilly, Coynyngham Hall, complete with free cake. Mariana Mouzinho followed the well-trodden path to Endcliffe Park in Sheffield, and Ann and Eddie Smith took another popular route to Keswick. Also on familiar ground were David Lydall and JIm Crinnion in Dorset and Leeds respectively. However, surpassing all this was Shilpa Iyanna with a bit of international tourism. Shilpa found a parkrun while visiting Warsaw.
