On a mild day for the time of year, Leazes Park still looked resplendent in its Autumn colours despite the grey morning skies. It was here, as often, that the largest Claremont contingent was to be found and there was a sky blue victory for Harry Mawdsley, despite him holding a bit back for the Memorial 10K the next day.
Sarah Williamson clocked up her 50th parkrun by making her first ever visit to the Town Moor, where Izzy Neatrour also showed that she is making good progress on her recovery from injury, but Rising Sun and Carlisle Park were the places to be for fast times. At the former 4 of the 6 Claremont Road Runners clocked course PBs! In Lena Lou’s case, it was also her fastest time for any parkrun and was good enough to see her finish as 3rd lady out of a field of 171 female runners. Lena’s progress this year has been truly outstanding – well done! Meanwhile, up in Morpeth, it was a good day for the Smiths, with both Ann and Eddie running course PBs.
On the tourism front, Peter Noble took the well trodden path westwards to Keswick; Ailsa Ralph and Antony Darne both found themselves running in London, but at different ends of the city. Mark Anderson had a great run on his first visit Crewe, finishing in 2nd place.
However, Tourist of the Week and Performance of the week go to the evergreen Joyce Archibold, who, once again, recorded an age graded score of over 100%. Amazing and inspirational as always!
