Run to the Rising Sun 10k, 14th December 2025

An early rising for Mark Anderson:

“7am on a dark Sunday morning in December is not necessarily the most appealing time for a race, but three brave Claremonters forewent their Sunday lie-in to race through the dark with the promise of seeing the rising sun over the Rising Sun Country Park. A fourth had to cancel due to a bad case of overnight cramp(!)

Those familiar with the Rising Sun Parkrun will know the terrain well – the route was a mystery as the map seemed to use every path known to man across the park. There was a glimmer of light appearing in the east as we started (head torches on), and while not dramatic, there were some pinks and reds that grew as we ran. Runs in the dark draw a particular brand of friendly runner so the atmosphere more than made up for the lack of a spectacular sunrise. Straight back to bed afterwards for the remainder of the lie-in!”
