Newcastle 10k, 17th January 2026
A riverside run report from Anna Round:
“With several races happening this weekend, a relatively small group of Claremont members took part in January’s second most important Quayside fixture, but what we may have lacked in numbers we made up for in enthusiasm. Last weekend’s ice and snow had given way to damp but milder weather for the Newcastle 10k.
Starting and finishing at the Millennium Bridge, we ran two laps of a very flat out-and-back route along Skinnerburn Road, with the turning point at the Spheres. Although parts of it were less than scenic, the support was enthusiastic, with several vocal Claremonters providing welcome encouragement!
Lena and Ailsa ran stellar PB’s, and I was delighted to run my first ‘under 50, over 50’ (if you see what I mean). It was a well-organised race and always enjoyable to run by the river.”
