As temperatures rose above freezing, parkrun returned to normal, though a number of Claremont regulars were otherwise occupied by the Newcastle 10K on the Quayside. There was still a good turnout though as we spread ourselves across the North East, with Izzy Neatrour going further afield to run “down south” in Guildford where she finished as 3rd lady.
In fact there were quite a few “podium” finishes this week. As well as Izzy, the ladies excelled with a 2nd place for Heather Steel at Gateshead and victories for Sarah Kerr and Catherine Young at Denton Dene and Fulwell Quarry respectively. Sarah also clocked a PB on her second visit to Denton Dene (which is not surprising as I remember her first visit, when I was trying to keep up with her and Roberto as we celebrated Robbie’s 300th in torrential rain!). Mark Anderson also ran well at Denton to bag 2nd place.
Not to be outdone, Luke O’Neill ran a course PB and finished 2nd in the other Dene, Jesmond, where Aoife Monaghan also joined the roll of honour with a PB.
