We’re already at the end of January, and the darker days seem to be receding, with some actual sun this weekend!
There were a lot of people trying out courses for the first time today, both near and far. Staying in the North-East, new member Maria Oranges made the obligatory debut at Leazes. Rachel Hurdman trod the Heritage Coastal Path by the sea at Easington, Lucy Ward hit the speedy promenade at Hartlepool, and Chris Jones visited Ushaw Historic House. A notable achievement for Mariana Mouzinho making her bow at Tyne Green, delighted to run under 30 minutes for the first time in over 2 years, after a long road back from surgery.
Further afield, Aoífe Monaghan and Jack ran up and around the scenic Arthur’s Seat at Holyrood in Edinburgh. Heading south, Alex Taylor faced down the iron figures at Crosby Beach in Liverpool, Sarah Taylor followed the familiar path to Isabel Trail in Staffordshire for an ‘I’, and Zoë Jukes was the farthest flung this week, running at Thoulstone near Bath. The only returning tourist, Becky Webster made her second appearance at Woodhouse Moor in Leeds.
Catherine Young was 1st lady once more at Fulwell Quarry, with Harry Mawdsley 2nd overall at Leazes, despite running his 3rd fastest time there. Only one PB this week, so obviously it was Lena Lou. Not content with recently breaking 24 minutes, she went under 23 minutes at Denton Dene, her fastest ever parkrun!
