Derwent Reservoir 5 & 10 Milers, 22nd February 2026
These are trail races organised by Wild Deer in this beautiful part of the North East where Northumberland meets County Durham. Given the time of year, the weather can be a problem, but thankfully the 4 Claremont Road Runners who took part were treated to some late winter sunshine.
For Clare Jeffray, this was her first race in a Claremont vest, and she was very happy to break the 90 minute mark. The other 3 fared well too.
Mark Flynn: “Really scenic route and a beautiful day for a run. Wild Deer could have mentioned the gravel and mud trail run sections and the little jump over a stream when they say the 10 mile route is ok for road shoes. But i would definitely do it again.”
Sarah Taylor: “Tougher than expected, a little disappointing as would have liked under 60 mins, though it was a little like cross country in parts.”
