Devizes Half-Marathon, 22nd March 2026

Ann and Eddie Smith took on the Devizes half-marathon this weekend. This is “home turf” for Eddie, so was a trip down memory lane as well as as an enjoyable run. Here is their report:

“On Sunday 22nd March, the two of us completed the Devizes half marathon in Wiltshire, along with about 300 others. This was a hilly course but it was worth it for sunshine and gorgeous rural views.

The route was full of memories for Eddie as it passed the schools he went to, the football ground he frequented when young, his dad’s workplace and the homes of both sets of grandparents.

The townspeople and villagers en route gave vocal support and the organisation was good. Both of us enjoyed the run, as did Eddie’s cousin, Jill.

The medal references the moonrakers legend that gives Wiltshire people a nickname and is linked to the Crammer pond at the start and end of the run.”
