Lindisfarne ‘Run The Raid’, 2nd August 2026

A visit to Holy Island today for Nina Jensen and Chris Jones to ‘Run the Raid’ in the marathon and half-marathon distances respectively. The multi-terrain marathon route “starts and finishes on the historic Holy Island, the course leading you across to Spittal and back, combining coastal paths, quiet lanes, and stunning sea views.”

The half-marathon distance simply started at the marathon turning point in Spittal, meaning Nina and Chris passed each other during the race. Some participants really leant into the ‘raid’ aspect, Nina commented “There was a bloke in full chainmail with axe and shield doing the half. We did see him walking back to the car later and he had his family carrying all his gear, so think he probably regretted dressing up in the heat!”
