Quayside 5K & 10K, 5th August

This was another of Run Through’s Quayside events, this time featuring 5K and 10K races. Once again, Claremont provided a number of volunteers (8 this time), with 6 sky blues running in the 5K race, but none choosing the 10K option.

As with the April event, the 5K certainly attracted a fast field with the winner clocking 14:17. Our own speed merchant, Harry Mawdsley ran a 5K PB of 16:03, but still finished in 43rd place. Aoife Campbell was the fastest of the Claremont ladies, absolutely smashing the 20 minute barrier.

The race was also open to juniors, so Charlotte Kerr donned her Claremont vest and sped around to finish 3rd in the Girls’ Under 14 category. Her mother wasn’t too shabby either and finished 2nd in her age group. Catherine Young was slightly disappointed to just miss the 20 minute mark, though neither her nor or other runner, Aoife Monaghan, let themselves down with their performances.

Our volunteer team stayed in their posts until the end of the 10K, and then helped with clearing up, and they can feel happy that they have done a good deed and earned money for the club in the process. So, a good night all round!
