There may have been a late cancellation at Leazes Park, but that didn’t stop it being a very eventful parkrun day for the Claremont crew!
There was the latest Claremont pilgrimage to Bushy Park as Gill Milne and Tom Tinsley took advantage of being down in that there London for a wedding to visit the parched fields where parkrun began. Continuing on the wedding theme, Cate Walker had her ‘hen party parkrun’ on the hills of Jesmond Dene. Much further afield, how about turning up at a parkrun in Berlin and bumping into fellow Claremonters? Well that happened to Niamh Garratt, Jack Shawcross and Aoife Monaghan when they all chose Tempelhofer Feld for their Saturday morning 5K. Roberto Marzo was also abroad, but in his native Puglia, where he came 2nd at Salento.
We spread ourselves around Britain too, with runners in Scotland, Wales, the Lake District and Yorkshire as well as being at a great number of the North East locations. There were PBs and podiums a-plenty, with Sarah Kerr joining Roberto in a 2nd place finish, and Lynne Cornell and Heather Steel both coming 3rd. Heather also ran a course PB along with Lena Lou (no surprise there!), Laurie Johnson, Ryan Thompson and Tara Hipwood.
