5K Routes

Sometimes 5K is all you need. So here are some options of for those Monday nights when 5K (approximately) is far enough! These routes are available when there is sufficient demand and a leader available. Click on the images to view interactive route maps.

Town Moor

A straightforward route onto the Moor, looping around Grandstand Road and the Great North Road.

It can be considered as a suitable option for evenings when the long run is one of the following:

Gosforth Flats (Summer or Winter variants)

Salters Road

Fenham 5

This route follows those of Fenham Flyer and Denton Bank towards Cowgate, then comes back via Wingrove Road and Fenham Hall Road.

It can be considered as a suitable option for evenings when the long run is one of the following:

Fenham Flyer

Jesmond

Down Lover’s Lane, then through the university, over the bridge to the library to Jesmond metro. Then through Jesmond to pick up a common return route across the moor.

It can be considered as a suitable option for evenings when the long run is one of the following:

Chillingham Road

Two Parks

Outside of the Moor

This one is a little more than 5K, about 5.25K. Essentially just stay on the roads around the Moor and then back through Exhibition Park.

Though it is only a little bit, about 500m, shorter than Kenton Calf, it can be used when the long run is:

Kenton Cow

Quayside and Back

This route is actually 5.5K. It is an out and back route down to the Quayside.

This is suitable when the long run is:

Dunston Staiths

Baltic (Summer or Winter variants)
