NS Poly Grand Prix, 30th September 2025

Following the Blyth Links 10K, the Grand Prix returned to the Whitley Bay sea front for the first of 6 monthly races along the “standard” course. Unusually GP number 2 took place in September (just), which may have accounted for the warm, still evening, just about perfect for running in. Don’t worry, I’m sure the cold and winds of the North Sea coast will test us before the season is out!

There were mixed fortunes for Claremont Road Runners on the evening. Peter Noble took advantage of a generous handicap to finish 5th, while Dave Roberts’ 30th place means that he sits in 10th place in the individual competition after 2 events. Dean O’Brien is also handily placed in 13th. On the other hand, Lena Lou, Yans Bevan and myself somewhat lost our battle with the handicapper. Unfortunately, the results team spotted the fact that Yana had started 80 seconds before her handicap!

All of our teams have some work to do over the coming months. Rock’s Stars and True Blood Blues are together in 14th and 15th place, with The Full Claremonty down in 28th.
